What to eat in Melaka : Qasreena Cafe

Melaka is my hometown. And i live in KL for most of my adult life. So whenever i came back i will treasure my mom's cooking hence the almost none knowledge of good food. But my husband is from KL so i need to find somewhere to bring him. Thus the blogwalking commenced.

Since i'm not fond of going to the historical area which always jam packed, so i wanted something near to Ayer Keroh area. And i found this place nice as a gem.

The foods are great and the prices are affordable. I often see the drinks price as my benchmark for affordable. And the normal drinks like Milo, Tea and all that are as affordable as normal gerai. The food also nicely price as you can get the Soto at Rm5.50. The tastes are delicious. My mom ate Soto Nasi Impit and they put fried chicken in it. The combination is superb. I ate the fame Mee racun which actually just a spicy Mee Hailam done right. And their fame Cupid Rose which is Ice cream Soda Bandung and everything taste really delicious.

The price, the portions, the restaurant itself and the taste all match up to become a 5 star restaurant in my judgement. Even my husband who really particular  is satisfied. So, just waze Qasreena Cafe if you're near Ayer Keroh or Bukit Katil area.

Our meal that day consisted of Mee Racun - Rm5.50, Nasi Goreng Collesium Rm 8 (big portion), Soto Nasi Impit - Rm5.50, Cupid Rose Soda - Rm4.50, Coke something ( coke float), Lai Chee Kang Rm3.50, Lychee Ice and Fries... some i forgot the price but our total for this was Rm40.

Qasreena served a lot of food ranging from western, seafood, tradional Malay fare and lots of their own combination.

Tai Zi Heen at Prince Hotel Jalan Conlay

It's my sister in law suggestion to try out the dim sum buffet here since she saw some good reviews and it's totally halal as well plus near her house. We went for lunch yesterday and the buffet was by a la carte version. We choose what we wanted and wrote it on the form provided. As usual i let if fall to them to choose since i just ate almost everything.

I like most if the dim sum and it's quite ok for me. I loves the roasted duck most cause it's yummy since i'm not really a fan of roasted duck. I often find them hard and not properly seasoned. Some like grouper with lemon i don't really favor cause it's sweet instead of sour and some of the weird oriental stuff like prawn wist wasabi ect ect..

Overall it's quite ok and we left full. The downside of it was the service was really slow. We got our egg tart & snow crab salad nearly at the end of the meal when we ordered that one first thing when we came. Some of the dish ordered really arrived when you're about to leave and it's hard to catch the eye of the wait staff.

The dim sum buffet was priced at Rm 45 ++ per person

Restoran Mohd Chan Abdullah, Wangsa Maju - Updated

Last Thursday i went there to eat since last time it was good. And i'm so totally frustrated with the food. It was terrible..i don't know what happen to this restaurant..

I actually felt like eating Ham Choy soup cause the first time i came it was so good, so refreshing. But this time it was looking more like Tom Yam soup and the tartness was really off.

It's good to say that i am never coming back there..sighh..minus one more food place for us..

These were what we eat on Tuesday night. Since my dear has been raving about eating duck so i found out some place near and halal for that. This restaurant opened by Chinese but it's serve halal roasted Chicken, Beef and Duck.

We're not so lucky as when we arrived around seven-ish afternoon that time a lot of stuff finish..hu hu - kam fai ( so fast) huh.. the only thing that left was Herbal Roasted Duck.. i heard their barbecue chicken is superb but all already finish..

Anyway since my dear always eat this kind of food so my verdict here were what i quoted from him.. " The duck was nice , good ." His one tasted better than mine.. i ordered the Duck Rice..

Then the Yaw Char Kuey was crispy but it's not my thing..the sweet wasabi just doesn't click for me cause i'm a spicy eater..Sago gula melaka was good too..

We drink the Chinese tea - cheap tea la this with cost us Rm1..duhh..overal bill..

And you can come and eat it here..it was really good actually..i guess that why it finish off quicky even on weekdays..

It's a Nyonya /Chinese type of restaurant and it is open by a Chinese actors..i forgot his name but he's quite common face in Malaysia.

And Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan have been here - I donno this since long time didn't come. So as we usually come for dinner this time we came for lunch. We took set lunch for a good price of Rm9.90 perset. Since it's quite common and i also like the food so i would say it was always worth it to come here and eat.

Kam Heong Fried Rice Rm 6.50

Wantan Mee with Roast Duck Rm 7

Ham Choy Taufoo Soup / Salted Vege Soup Rm 6 -small

Yesterday we went for Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan again for lunch. We were suppose to look for some gerai that has been featured in Eating program but since we are not really familiar with this place we can't find it. Since my stomach already really hungry than i proposed we eat here since accidentally we saw this place. I know it's well known also for the owner is Chinese Muslim and it serves Chinese Halal Cuisine.

First of all we took Chicken Dim Sum Rm3.80 which was not been captured since i'm so hungry and only remembered when already in my stomach and dear..but i manage to catch the Pau before it's finish. It was nice..the Dim Sum and also the Pau..it was so soft and i guess it has been made them self.

My Roast Duck Wantan Mee tasted really good but my dear said the duck was a bit hard..for me it's perfect as it it..the Fried Rice was a lot and it's spicy and it's good also..and i loves the soup but you should eat it when it's hot otherwise it will taste not so good.

Overall it was so nice and i was full this night lucky for me cause after that we went to my dear aunts house..so our total bill were Rm27 something inclusive water. Mine was Chinese Tea Rm 0.80 and my dear ordered Home Made Flower Tea Rm1.70..
